Jo is the Communications Director at Heathrow Airport and oversees internal, policy, government affairs and media programmes. Even before the pandemic, no day was ever the same, but these days activity and priorities can be even more unpredictable.
Overseeing the communications programme for an airport in recovery is an ‘always on’ job reacting to changes, challenges, opportunities and crisis. At the heart of this, sits Heathrow colleagues who show up every day and work at the airport. Also local community members who are impacted by the airport’s operation, ministers, media, unions, regulators and business groups who represent members who rely on a healthy and open Heathrow.
Stakeholder engagement is vast and as Heathrow, so badly hit by the pandemic pulls into recovery, even further pressure is on to communicate what recovery will look like from an operational, reputational and sustainable point of view.
