In the spotlight: NHS – lessons learnt from the WannaCry ransomware attack
In May 2017, the WannaCry ransomware cyber-attack infected more than 300,000 computers in over 150 countries.
Only one percent of NHS activity was directly affected but it was one of the most high profile victims. Informing staff and patients on what this might mean for them without using email presented an unusual challenge.
